As I have been trying to move things
around in my office / craft room I have been rather busier than normal and
realised I didn’t do a blog yesterday or the day before so thought I needed to
catch up with everyone today. I find
there is so much good content from the people in my circles on Google+ that it
takes me ages to look through the stream which takes up my time when I haven’t
been on there for a few hours, especially in the mornings because I obviously
go to bed before a lot of my friends in my circles who live in the US. So when I get online at lunchtime I have an
awful lot to catch up on and, as I have said before, I think I must have a FOMO
complex (Fear Of Missing Out) because I don’t want to miss out on some of the
really interesting posts.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
I can NEVER catch up on all the tweets in
Twitter which I do find frustrating but as most of the non-direct tweets are
promotions I don’t mind too much, but the posts on Google+ are much more
interesting. Facebook posts seem to be
much easier to keep up with, possibly due to the shorter posts on there but
also people don’t seem to put the same interesting things to read on there that
they do on Google+.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
I had a great day yesterday as, apart
from still trying to sort the room out, I had 2 friends come round – one in the
afternoon and one in the evening – neither of whom I have seen for quite a
while. It’s funny but I just knew they
would end up coming round on the same day and yet one was an unplanned visitJ They are both very dear friends and it was
lovely to see them and it made a lovely change to my normal routine to be
socialising for most of the day.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
BUT I realised today that I am not really
pining that I didn’t see all the new posts in my circles yesterday – I actually
discovered that life can go on without me seeing everything on Google+ if there
are other things to do. I did find it was
actually possible to just check out my “favourite” or “more important” circles
without having to see absolutely everything that everyone had posted. Normally I “make time” to see all the posts,
or as many as I can as skimming down the stream sometimes manages to miss
posts, and sometimes I am just so late to bed trying to catch up on them all as
the stream is so very busy at that time of night as it is evening in the US.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
So it ended up being a day off work and
only a short time to look at the posts online.
And I survived without my “see
everything” G+ fix. If I can manage it,
the consequence of this is that I shall try to limit my periods on the computer
to “sessions”. I will try to discipline
myself to not looking at my stream until I have posted my jewellery item of the
day and my blog. Then I shall try to
keep to certain blocks of timed sessions so that I can still fit other things
into my day and not allow myself a lingering session on there until late
evening. I am not sure I will be able to
keep to it, and keeping offline while I am doing other things will be ok, but
dragging myself away when I do go on there will be another story!!! Watch this space…
