How to Delete a Wrong Entry in Google Chrome's Autofill and the rest of my day

Well I had a very frustrating but a very successful day yesterday.  I managed to finally work out how to delete the stupid mistakes I had made with my login details when logging into websites.  Unless you have Google Chrome you wont realise what I am talking about – but it has this brilliant feature that stores your logins, address etc. so that you can put in a few letters and it fills in the rest for you – not passwords of course).  So instead of having to type in your whole email address you only have to type in the 1st letter and a blue box comes up with your email address for you to click into so with 2 clicks you are done. But you know how your fingers run away with you on the keyboard and you mistakenly add the password to your login or your put the first letter and then thinking you had clicked into the blue autofill choice you click the return button so you have a one letter or a couple of letters now as an alternative choice to login.  Of course these are saved for all to see so I needed to do something about it.  Well I have been looking for ages on the Google Chrome help site and all the other help sites online and I found loads of people had the same problem and there were a number of solutions but the ones that worked were for a Mac and not for a PC.  Well in the end I tried some more things myself and found the solution, for me anyway,y as it has cleared my extra bits that I didn’t want.  So if you are on Google Chrome and have the same problem this worked for me so I have posted it here and hopefully anyone else searching for the answer will find it.  I did also put my solution on the help sites I had been looking at, the ones that didn’t need me to register just to leave the answer.

How to Delete a Wrong Entry in Google’s Autofill

On a PC use this to delete any entries added in error (i.e. wrong email address or a missing letter etc.) and if you put your password in by mistake. Or even those one letter entries that saved when you clicked them without looking.

To delete an entry type enough letters in the box to bring up the one you want to delete so that it shows up blue under the box (as if ready to load) then click Ctrl+Delete.

The other thing I managed to do was sort out a problem on my ArtFire website shop where my pendants were not automatically listing to the Google search engine since a new thing had kicked in.  It was all to do with variants being listed but of course I haven’t got any variants in other colours etc. as my pendants are all one-off unique ones.  I finally had so many failed listings that I decided to sort it out myself as I didn’t seem to be getting any help again – why is it that help sections never have answers to your particular problem or it they do then it is invariably something you have already tried.  Well I finally worked out that the ones which had failed (which were ok before) had their automatic colour as # or the code for black (I can’t remember what that was now).  The others may have the same erratic colours but I was only concerned about the ones that weren’t showing up on the search engines.  So I went through all the problem ones and changed the automatic colour to something similar to the gemstone colour on the pendant and hey presto they worked.  I am sure they would have probably worked whatever colour I put in as it was at least a different colour but I did my best and tried to match the pendant to the colour chart.  This took me ages and was very annoying as I had more important things to do like improving my earlier photos of pendants on there.

So it was a trying day but rewarding in the end because at least I could finish what I started and to me that is important otherwise it would have been a complete waste of a day.

I don’t know what the weather is like where you are but it has been really mild and sunny here for the last 3 days so we are actually having a late summer.  In the real summer we were having to put jackets on to walk the dogs in the evenings and yet for the last few nights we have been walking them in t-shirts!  In fact last week we nearly put the heating on in the evenings and now we are back to summer weather and saying how muggy it is!

Here’s todays snippet of interest:

A cat's urine glows under a black light.

(I wish I had known that when I was trying to find out where the blessed cat had peed on the carpet – although not sure what a black light is or where I could get one).  Look at him - "butter wouldn't melt in his mouth" as they say.

And here’s a little chuckle:

ROMANCE
An elderly couple were lying in bed one night. The husband was falling asleep but the wife was in a romantic mood and wanted to talk.
She said: "You used to hold my hand when we were courting."
Wearily he reached across, held her hand for a second and tried to get back to sleep.
A few moments later she said: "Then you used to kiss me."
Mildly irritated, he reached across, gave her a peck on the cheek and settled down to sleep.
Thirty seconds later she said: "Then you used to bite my neck."
Angrily, he threw back the bed clothes and got out of bed.
"Where are you going?" she asked.
"To get my teeth!"

Oh no...will there be a 3rd?

Ooh I hate that – 2 bad things have happened and we all know everything comes in 3’s.

First I took some crystals down for cleansing which I have to do in batches because I have LOADS of crystals, and I mean loads – thousands if you count the small ones as well.  I can’t seem to stop myself from buying new ones whenever I see ones that I like and that is OFTEN!  It is not that they are necessarily that expensive as the cheaper ones cost anything from £1 upwards (well I have been known to find ones I like for 30p each) although I know some go up to a couple of hundred pounds for the bigger ones like the caverns, but if I see something I like at a reasonable price I just have to have it – well a girl has to buy it there and then because there is only the one of it as they are all unique in colour, size, pattern etc.  So now I am just not allowing myself to look for a while.  There aren’t any local shops that sell them anyway but I did used to regularly go into one in my old home town when I go to the dentist - yes I still go back to the same dentist, which was perfectly ok when my mum was still alive and lived in my home town but is sillier now to drive there when there are so many local dentists – but you tend to get used to the one and as you hopefully only go twice a year it doesn’t matter too much.  There is a lovely little shop there that just sells crystals (well a few other things like incense) and it was just round the corner from my dentist so I just couldn’t help but pop in there every time I went to the dentist which did make every dental appointment very expensive indeed.  But the shop and the dentist have now moved and are at opposite ends of the town which means I would have to make a special effort to go to the crystal shop and I have so far been very good and not detoured up there to it.  The other place I tend to buy them is online especially on some good ebay sites, so now I daren’t even look at my saved searches of those sites because if I see crystals I like I know I will be too tempted, so what I don’t see I can’t buy which keeps temptation at bay.  Anyway, my poor delicate crystal broke into 3 and so I have rehoused it into a mixed pot of crystals rather than a showpiece spot on my table.

The 2nd thing that happened is that I had written out some notes and ideas for some blogs but obviously hadn’t got round to saving them – I know, the cardinal rule is to save everything often but I must have got distracted as I was doing it and then when I came back to the computer last night everything had closed down as we had had one of those (weekly it seems) really annoying Windows Updates that restarts the computer afterwards if you are not there to keep clicking the Restart Later button.  That is annoying in itself as once it has kicked in you have to keep clicking the blooming button every 10 minutes and you daren’t even go for a pee in case it shuts everything down while you aren’t there.  I have so many things open that the last thing I want to do is close everything, let it restart and then open everything again.  Who invented that way of updating the wretched thing anyway I want to know!!!  Why on earth can’t they make it so that it updates the next time you start the computer or gives you the option to restart if you want to if you are the type of person who never closes your computer down.  Why just cut everything off – I can’t be the only one that it peeves off when it does that surely?  I put the occasional note down when I think of it to remind me as my brain is like a sieve these days so I doubt I will remember much, if anything, of the notes I wrote down yesterday and I actually had a good day for some ideas as they were flowing on from each other!!!  Anyway all my notes were gone, but as you can see I had no problem thinking of something to write about today !!!   Grrr!!!

**********

I just hope there isn’t a 3rd thing.  I did have a really bad sick headache today so I will have to hope that that was the 3rd thing.

Here’s todays little snippet of information for you (answer after the picture so you can’t see the answer first, so scroll slowly):

Q.  If you were to spell out numbers (one, two etc), how far would you have to go until you would find the letter “A” in the number.

Ooh help - drowned in repeat emails!

Ooh dear – I have had horrendous problems with repeating emails - 10 every few minutes and I couldn't find a way to stop them.  I was trying to find help and at the same time trying to keep up with deleting them – talk about trying to juggle.  I was panicking as I couldn’t keep up with them and no way of stopping them – like having a tap shooting out water but if you let go to turn it off at the mains it will flood the floor.

No help from Virgin (our internet provider) or other sources – I finally stopped it by going into Virgin webmail online myself and deleting the repeating emails there which finally stopped it.  I had a painful arm from just trying to keep up with erasing them all, especially since my Delete button doesn't seem to work so I am having to slide them over into another file I set up in Deleted just to get rid of them!!!  That problem I still haven’t sorted!

This is immediately since that bloomin' haunted bear story I told you about in my last blog!!!

Now does anyone know how to get my email Delete button to work again?  I think I must have corrupted it by sending too many emails through it from all the new messages I get from facebook and linkedin and now the poor thing can’t cope.  All those Charlie bear groups messages – and why do the messages from groups go into our main mailbox I want to know as my hubbie is tearing his hair out as he can’t find our normal emails amongst them all.

I was trying to delete some last night when it just jammed and when I looked today it said the folder was empty - now that would have taken some doing because I have to make sure I go through it at the beginning of each month and clear a months emails (I usually leave 2 months in there because you never seem to know when you may need to find an email that you have stupidly gone and erased).

All this unusual activity then crashed my emails altogether so I spent 2 hours on the phone to Virgin trying to sort out the problems – how come there seems to be no-one out there who can just tell you to do something and your problem is solved.  She solved the emails coming in but neither of us knew how in the end because as a last resort she forwarded the most important ones to a different mailbox for me and then mine all came flooding in + 2 of each to the main mailbox!!!  More to delete without a button !!!

Is it because of that haunted bear story I read about or is it because I was complaining that none of the media sites have beginners instructions to follow – either way something was out the get me :0(

On a brighter note I read this great blog:  http://angelasartistic.blogspot.com

Ooh and here are my 3 latest pendants just added to ArtFire and in the 10% off Summer Sale that is now on all my items.
